According to officials, the BCB chairman is expected to be part of key emergency consultations involving the Pakistan Cricket Board and the ICC. The heads of the cricket boards are likely to participate in the ICC meeting through online links.
Sources said Aminul Islam is also expected to meet PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, during which the current situation surrounding the T20 World Cup will be discussed in detail. Other cricket-related matters are also expected to come under discussion.
Officials said that following his participation in the ICC-related meetings, the BCB chairman is scheduled to return to Dhaka later in the evening.
The visit comes amid developments related to Bangladesh’s participation in the T20 World Cup. Bangladesh had earlier requested that its matches be shifted from India to Sri Lanka, citing security concerns. The ICC, however, rejected the request and subsequently excluded Bangladesh from the tournament, with Scotland being included in its place.
Pakistan, expressing solidarity with Bangladesh, formally lodged a protest against the decision. As part of its response, Pakistan has announced a boycott of its scheduled group match against India on February 15.
